Sun Dec 13, 2015 - After very much hard work writing, rehearsing, and recording the new 7 song EP "Glow" will be released in late December or early January. Won, Mark, and myself are in the process of rehearsing and planning some live shows for spring 2016. Also in the works for 2016 is "Glow Part 2" which will contain an additional six songs about my cancer experience, thus continuing the "Glow" narrative.
For those of you who may not know I spent much of 2011 and 2012 being treated for stage IV Hodgkins Lymphoma, an experience that nearly killed me. I had not been writing or performing music since the '90's (yea a a LONG time) but after surviving such an ordeal I was compelled to, as they say, put pen to paper and write. I had all these feelings, emotions, pent up frustrations, anger, joy, fear, all of it, that I could not process internally. I had a very difficult time wrapping my head around all that had happened, with the constant threat of death every day of my life for the longest time, and I had to get it out. The songs on "Glow" are a result of that catharsis.
I tend to write very metaphorically and so the uninitiated could probably derive their own meanings for each of these songs, particularly "Alive". This song should speak to everyone, all of those who are suffering, and remind them that no matter what is happening to you, how bad things get, when you open your eyes and wake up each day, that is the greatest gift of all because you are ALIVE. Never give up, never stop fighting. - Greg
